Caribbean Sustainable Fisheries’ Approach

Caribbean Sustainable Fisheries has been founded on sound, thoroughly researched, peer reviewed science. Our concept is based on the ongoing evolution of this science in a practical environment, and our primary concern is the production of sustainable farm raised Caribbean Spiny Lobsters.

The way we operate will continue to be based on careful scientific practice, working with contacts throughout the marine biology research world to ensure our business model is sustainable. Our blueprint is based on establishing international best practices for the sustainability of farming lobster, and without the emphasis on “sustainability”, the  blueprint's value is dramatically decreased.

Caribbean Sustainable Fisheries also works with local communities to build small scale lobster farming operations. We will be offering business opportunities to fishermen whose wild resources have been depleted to the point that it is no longer viable for them to continue fishing.

While sustainability underpins the Caribbean Sustainable Fisheries approach, producing high quality lobster with firm, fresh flesh, is another key goal. Our aim is to produce consistent, high quality lobster that seafood purchasers can recognize as both viable and invariably good. Lobsters will not be left in traps for days before harvest, eliminating problems caused when they stop eating.
